I can not connect to the
Internet.
There are a few common reasons people experience when they can't connect
to your Isp. 1) you have entered a wrong password; 2) you have entered
capital letters in your password, 3) you have entered a wrong phone number for connecting
to your isp, and 4) your Dial-Up Networking configuration has become corrupted.
Ways to recover from theses errors, 1 and 2) enter the correct password (see also), 3) check your Dial-Up Networking configuration to be sure the phone
number is entered correctly (see also) and 4) follow
the procedure to create a Dial-Up Networking configuration.

I get an SMTP or POP3 error message when I'm
sending or receiving email.
The following are a couple of SMTP and POP3 error messages you might
receive and the way to fix them
If you receive the above error then you either are not connected to
the Internet or the POP server is down. First check for the Internet connection icon
in your lower right corner. If it is not there then connect to the Internet and try
your email again. If you are still getting the same error, call your
isp to see if their POP server is really down.
To prevent email SPAMMING most
ips's have implemented a procedure to
prevent non-members of that isp from using their SMTP mail server to do their
SPAMMING. This normally puts a restriction on Internet users connected to the Internet
through a dial-up connection other than that of their isp. Most Isp's
have a workaround. Usually you have to either set your smtp (outgoing
server) to use the one provided by your dialup Isp. Frequently,
however, they do not allow outgoing mail except from an email server on
their network. Currently many Isp's use what is called Pop over Smtp
which means that if your check for mail first, your connection is trusted to
send mail for a period of time (usually 20-30) minutes. To use this
you may or may not need to check " My server requires
authentication" in the Outgoing Server section of the mail settings for
your email client software (Outlook Express, etc) Check with your ISP
for specific details.
